Typhoon Bite Indicator

Typhoon bite alarm - I have been fishing with this one for a while and there are two things that I liked. The buzzer tone can be altered and it is really sensative. Costs 15 quid.

Also, I dropped it in the water and it still worked after drying off a bit, not sure if this is a feature but I was happy with that.

Buy it here

Polluted Rivers

With all the rain we have had this year, fishing my favourite stretches of the river stour has been tough to say the least.

The thing that I keep thinking about with all this rain is the pollutants washed into the river systems from farmland that has been sprayed with pesticide.

I have still been catching fish, but not to normal size or quantities... I guess I am looking for excuses for my poor form.

It will be interesting to see how well the rivers fish in the new season.

Would be interested to know if anyone else is struggling...

Here are a couple of interesting articles on pollution:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1285883.stm

http://www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/facts/rivers.htm

Cheers.

Steve.

Fishing Lakes in the wind

My first instict when fishing still water when it is windy is to find a swim with the wind behind me and stick the brolly up.

I have heard a bit of watercraft that says you should fish the spot where the wind blows to, so on the weekend I pick my spot and I am sat there with the cold wind in my face and whatching fish topping in the Middle.

My best results on this lake have come on the pole catching Rudd and Roach and my pole is not long enough to get to the middle. So what do I do. This is the good bit... honest.

I catapaulted a load of dog biscuits out to the middle and the wind gradually blew them towards me with the fish following right into my swim. I was able to keep them feeding there with regular ground bait and loose feed. Catching much more than I would have done on the feeder lobbed out.

Thanks, dog buscuits!

PS. I finished the day on the other side of the lake to warm up and didn't have 1 bite.
